‘’…do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.’’ – Deuteronomy 4:9
How this all came about
“Anthologies of Augustus” chronicles a father and grandfather’s spiritual insights, meticulously captured in notes collated after his passing. My father, a man of deep faith and wisdom, had spent the last decades of his life imparting spiritual insights, sharing his unique interpretations of scripture, his unwavering belief in God’s plan, and his hopes for future generations.
This project, initially a collaboration between my daughter Tólúwálópẹ́ (Tolu) and I to preserve and share these reflections, faced an unexpected turn when Tolu tragically passed away before its completion. However, not before she had completed the transcription and foreword.
Driven by faith and a commitment to honoring both my father’s and my daughter’s legacy, this compilation now serves as a testament to their shared passion for understanding God’s nature and fostering a personal relationship with Him. It invites readers on a journey of introspection, encouraging them to embrace the complexities of faith and ultimately trust in God’s plan, even amidst life’s most challenging circumstances.
Echoes of Faith- Sharing My Grandfather's Spiritual Journey Across Continents
Few subjects are as intriguing as the human experience, and for me, delving into my grandfather’s handwritten reflections has been an unexpected privilege. Though separated by vast distances during his lifetime, his words have bridged the gap, offering a glimpse into the heart of a man deeply devoted to his faith.
The complexities of the Bible can be daunting for many, but my grandfather, a devout Christian and active member of his church community, navigated its depths with the mind of an academic and the heart of an apologist. He shared his insights and passion for God with his family, leaving a legacy of faith that continues to resonate.
These writings are a testament to his lifelong spiritual journey – a journey guided by the Lord’s hand. They encourage us to be bold, to question, and to seek deeper understanding. Through reflections on faith, truth, and the human condition, my grandfather’s words echo across continents, inviting us to join him in exploring the profound mysteries of life and God.
